Storming of Bastille..

Last year I went to a small local music festival with a group of friends, and trying to escape the heat from a saturday afternoon in Derby (Yes believe me we did actually have some sun last year) me and my friends ventured into a small music tent where a small stage stood. So we sat down on the cold grass drinking our drinks, when a band appeared on stage, they introduced them self and with no one really taking any notice of them they started to play. It was at that moment that i heard Bastille for the first time. I sat and listened to this band play song after song and as time went on i could see people in the crowd getting closer and closer to the stage mesmerised by the unbelieveable sound. Everyone you could tell was thinking the same thing "WOW".

Dan Smith From Bastille at Y Not Festival

Y Not.

Me and my friends Rach and Fay.

From that day i have loved Bastille and after countless views of their music videos and telling so many people about them, a wait that seemed like years was finally over and their album was released. And it was definitely worth the wait, Bad Blood is one of those album you can listen to on repeat, Dan Smith's voice is amazing. I am really hoping that the majority of people reading this post have already heard of Bastille, but if you havent please have a listen, believe me you wont be disapointed in the least.

So i no todays post was slighty different, but a bit of change is good even in a blog. So back to the usual tomorrow.

Let me no what you think guys...

Inside my makeup bag..

Cath Kidston Makeup bag.

So today I thought I would let you have a look inside my makeup bag. I am just going to concentrate on my daily makeup bag today, i do have a few other items that I use at the weekends or when i go out, but it would take so long to go through all of the makeup, so these are just the makeup items that I use on a daily basis. I apologise for the state of some of the products because some of them have been really well used.

I have three brushes that I use to do my daily makeup. They are all from the Real Techniques range.

 Starting from the left:

The pink brush is the Stippling Brush and I use this for my blusher and my highligher.

The Middle brush is the Expert Face Brush and I use this for applying my foundation.

The largest brush is the Powder Brush, and I use this for my face powder and also my bronzer.

For my face I use Estee Lauder Double wear in the shade Ecru. I love this foundation and I have been using it for the past two years.

To set my liquid foundation I use Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in the shade Medium plus.

I also have a Mac Concealer that I use every now and then if needed.

I have quite a few blushes in my collection but my all time favourite is my Mac blusher in the shade Azalea Blossom. It is such a gorgeous colour and as you can see from the photo I have made a huge dint in it.

Along with my blush I also use a Nars highligher called Albertross.

Ok on to the eyes for my everyday look I usually just wear my lOreal Volume Million Lashes, and a neutral eye shadow from the Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes set.

Ok so now you have had a sneak peak into my makeup world, let me know what you think...

Tie a ribbon around your neck cherie..

We have all had the days when we look in the wardrobe and say, "Ive got nothing to wear". You look at all the clothes that you have worn numerous times, and wish for a wardrobe that mimics that of a Topshop store. Well I was thinking rather than getting depressed thinking of all the clothes I would love to own, why dont I adapt my clothes to make them more desirable.

So taking inspiration from the wonderful Caroline Flack i decided to try the addition of a ribbon. As you can see from the photos I bought a thin black ribbon and a thick black ribbon, just because i think the thickness of the ribbon really impacts the effectiveness of the style and each ribbon gives a slighy different look.

The white polka dot shirt is from Primark. The white washed out denim shirt is from Topshop.

Overall i think the addition of a ribbon makes a shirt look and feel that little bit special and can make an old piece of clothing feel right on trend. I got both pieces of ribbon from a local haberdashery store and for both pieces it only cost me 1.54, and for that price i think the results are really good.

Let me no what you think guys...
