Good Friday Bargain Haul..

As last friday was good Friday I took advantage of a day off and went for a shopping trip with my mum. I am living on a tight budget at the minute as me and my boyfriend are saving for a mortgage deposit, So gone are the days of having loads of spare cash, and indulging in numerous shopping trips every month and hello to the budget shopping trips where my spending limit is a huge £25.00. Never the less I was determined to find some bargains to blog about and to make me and all the other bargain shoppers out there that little bit happier.

So the first place I visited on my shopping trip was Superdrug. I am loving Superdrug at the minute, I find myself spending so long in there just looking around just because they have so much to offer. There is only a tiny store in the town that I live so I normally wait until I am visiting a bigger town or city till I normally buy things.

So the first two items I got were both from the Vo5 plump it up range, I got the Amplifying blow dry lotion and also the Dry backcomb spray. My hair is not very thick so I am constantly trying new products in the hope of adding some volume to my hair. I have heard through the blogging grapevine that the Vo5 plump it up products are pretty good, and so I have wanted to try them for a while. Now they normally retail about £3.69 each but there is currently an offer on at Superdrug which meant I got both products for £4.99. I am not sure how long the offer is on, but yer that offer is definitely worth a look if you happen to find yourself in a superdrug any time soon.

Whilst in Superdrug I also got these amazingly cute nail art stencils from the finishing touches range. I love trying lots of different nail art so I was so happy to find these in store. You get ten heart stencils in the pack, Iam not sure if they are reusable just by looking at them (I am hoping they are) so ill have to use them and just see, but with them only retailing at £1.99 it wouldn’t be too bad if they were.

I then moved onto Primark where I bought a nail varnish from their angelica range, the one I got is called A3 Brit Pop 92. I really love this nail varnish as its gorgeous and glittery and for £2.50 for a 12ml bottle I think it’s a complete bargain. As you can see from the photo I have already tried this nail varnish and I am pretty pleased with the result. I would say that you probably need a couple of coats of this, as it goes on quite light, and I did put a clear coat over the top as I think it may flake away without it. But along with the top coat, its looking good so far.

I also got this gorgeous dress from Primark which cost £10.00, I got this dress in a size 8 now I am normally a size 6 so it is slighty bigger than I would of liked it but it still looked really nice, and for the price I just couldnt say no.

The final place I visited was Republic,  Iam not sure if they are closing down or not but there was a massive sale going on in there, literally apart from the schuh department I think everything was on sale.

So from republic I got this gorgeous necklace from the Miso range. I do have quite a few necklaces of this design but I just really liked the pale pink colour of this one. It should have of been £6.00 but it had 20% off so it worked out at £4.80 which I thought was really good, and ran straight to the till to buy.

So overall I think I had a successful day shopping and I got quite a few bargins, which I was pretty happy about, and the best thing is I managed to stay within my budget as my total spending came to £24.28, just enough left for a cheeky chocolate bar as it is easter J

It's all going a bit dotty...

Nail art is something that I have always loved, i think a little added bit of detail on any girls nails makes her feel that extra bit special :) I love trying out lots of different types of nail art and nail designs, so I was really happy to see that on a recent shopping trip, that Primark had started their own range of nail art at super cheap prices. I did buy a few different bits which i will hopefully get round to reviewing soon, but today iam going to focus on their double set of nail art pens.

As you can see from the pictures you get two nail art pens in this pack, one black and one white.  Before I tell you about the actual art pen itself, I am just going to explain the pens in detail as they have a few other unseen uses. As you can see from the photo each pen is divided into two sections, the top section of the pen has the nail colour in and the bottom section is a unscrewable pot which has lots of small round silver jewels which are brilliant to use as part of your nail designs.

The top section of the pen can also be unscrewed revealing a nail brush, meaning the pen can also be used as a normal nail varnish for an all over colour on the nail which is a useful tool to have.

Moving on to the actual nail art pen itself, as you can see from the photo, the nib of the pen it very thin making small nail designs easy to do. I went for the easy option of polka dots just to test out the pen first. I choose Rimmel London Lasting Finish varnish in 702 Marshmallow Heaven for a base colour and the white nail art pen for the polka dots. I found the pen easy and
comfortable
to hold and the colour distribution through the nib was just enough. I hate it with nail pens when the liquid comes out way to fast and it makes nail design really hard to do.  Obviously as with many other other nail art pens if you do need more nail colour, you just have to squeeze the coloured tube on the pen.

Overall I really like this nail art set because there are so many different things you can do with it, and at only £2.00 I think its an absolute bargain. I would definitely recommend this.

Let me know what you think…

Volume Million Lashes.

Earlier this month I purchased a few bits from Boots, one of which was the L’Oreal Million Lashes mascara in black. I have been wanting to try this mascara for a few months as I have heard really good things about it. I started using it as soon as I bought it and I have used it every day since. This product is AMAZING, and will definitely remain a key piece in my makeup bag. It is a little pricey retailing at £10.99, but its definitely worth spending that little bit more as it’s a fantastic product.

Firstly I love the design of the mascara, the gold and black works really well together, giving it a really expensive and elegant looking finish.

The brush has loads of bristles and it does an amazing job of separating the lashes, so you don’t end up with that horrible clumpy lash look. It also does a great job of lengthening the lashes, I have only been wearing this mascara for just over three weeks now and already a number of people have asked me if I was wearing fake eye lashes.

This mascara is also fantastic as it really does last all day!! My working day starts at 7.30am and finishes at 6.00pm and so I need a mascara that can last all day, and Volume Million Lashes really does that. It has real staying power, which means no mascara flaking and no panda eyes.

Before
After

I normally only wear one coat of mascara, as I don’t like the thick clumpy lash look, but I did try a couple of coats of this mascara and it still looked lovely, and the fact the mascara dries really quickly is a bonus. As you can tell from the photos I don’t really apply mascara to my bottom lashes, as I find my bottom lashes are to long, and when I apply mascara it just seems to smudge all along the bottom of my eye and its not really the best look.

So to summarise I would say that L’Oreal Volume Million lashes is an all around amazing product, and even though it is a little pricey at £10.99 I would most definitely recommend it.

Let me no what your thoughts are on this mascara..

Finally..

Yes, finally after months of deliberation ive finally joined Blogger!! Ive been wanting to do this for so long, and I can not wait to get posting!! :) I think the main reason its taken me so long is because i couldnt think of a Blogger name that actually fitted with the type of blogger i want to be. Then it hit me and "Rumour has it..." was born, and along with it a lovely header which i would love to take the credit for but unfortuatly it was down to my amazingly talent boyfriend.

So just to give you an overview of the type of blog "rumour has it.." is hopefully going to be, bascially in the past ive found peoples blog pages to be really helpful when picking say a new beauty product or ideas for outfits to wear with a core piece of clothing etc as i think that bloggers are honest about products and give the consumer a true insight into the product, so they are definaltly a reliable source when it comes to buying something new. So i thought after months of taking advantage of these brilliant sites,  it was my turn to jump onboard and join this amazing ideogly :)

So iam planning to do my first beauty post over the weekend, as this week has been immensely busy with work etc, but i just wanted to kind of introduce my blog first, as a way of hopefully entice people into reading my blog ...

Thanks to anyone that taken the time to read this, and stay tuned..

Kate :)

Ps. yes that is me with a ginger tash, and no i dont normally sport a ginger caterpillar under my nose, i just thought id give it a try one night whilst visting a friend in Leeds :)
